Society is an illusion, because there is no such thing as "social behavior". There only exists the human behavior of an individual, who interacts with other humans behaviors' in an attempt to further the individual's evolutionary goals.

A human acts upon their emotions, which senses whether a situation is evolutionary beneficial for them. These emotions guide their actions and beliefs.

There exists an illusion of "civilized" human behavior, but no evidence. Human behavior has not changed and will always be influenced by evolution.

A human's actions are not based on merit or morals, but rather the benefit the individual gains from the actions. So, the world is not just because individuals take actions that "benefit themselves the most" rather than actions that maximize meritocracy and morality.
